Craving…Monday August 10, 2009

It’s actually 0230 in the morning on Tuesday and I’m craving everything. I can’t get to sleep. I’ve been trying. Every time I get tired I go upstairs to lay down and…nothing.

So I’m here trying to distract myself from eating, then feeling guilty about it, then overeating because I gave up trying not to eat. Maybe if I keep my fingers busy typing, I’ll keep my hands away from my mouth. We shall see…

Let’s hope for the best.

    theres nothing worse than not being able to sleep and then craving food. But I’m sure you know you were only craving because you were tired, and not actually hungry. I get like that sometimes too. To help, I bring a bottle of water with me to bed and drink that when I get the pangs. And before I go to bed, I close the kitchen door, so if I have to get up during the night to go to the toilet, I cant get into the kitchen.

    I read something about that recently… When you stay up past the point of being tired, your body is going to want you to eat to give it energy. You’ll probably crave sugary stuff or caffeine, since they give those instant but short energy bursts. I hate insomnia, but haven’t had much of a problem with it lately since I have two toddlers now. lol I’m asleep by the time my head hits the pillow these days.

    Maybe try decreasing your activity beginning a few hours before you’d like to go to bed, but being more active in the mornings and throughout the day. Hard to say, since I have no idea what your schedule is like. ;) Anyway, good luck!! Try to get more sleep. (Easier said than done, I know.)
